What We Do

We're a commercial low-voltage specialist. That means the cabling and electronics that sit between your walls, in your network closets, and on the perimeter of your building — the systems most people only think about when something stops working. Done right, they quietly hold the rest of your operation together.

Pre-construction or retrofit, single building or multi-building campus — we'll design the system, pull the cable, and stand behind the work.

Industries We Serve

We've built and maintained low voltage infrastructure for a wide range of industries across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin:

Residential Work

Alongside our commercial work, we install and service low voltage systems in private homes, cabins, hobby shops, and rural properties across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Same licensed crew, same code-grade workmanship — scaled for residential budgets and timelines.

Whether you need a single camera at the front door or a full security and network buildout for a new home, we'll show up, listen, and quote it honestly.

Where We Work

We're based in Rush City and work throughout Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin — from the Twin Cities metro out to East Central Minnesota, the I-35 corridor, the St. Croix Valley, and across the river into Wisconsin. If you're not sure whether you're in our area, just ask. Visit our service areas page for details.

About the Owner
Bob Magnuson

Bob founded Magnuson Low Voltage Wiring in 2011 with a simple idea: do the work the right way, charge a fair price, and answer the phone when customers call. More than a decade later, that's still how the company runs.

As a Minnesota-licensed Power Limited Technician (PLT) and Technology Systems Contractor (TSC), Bob personally oversees commercial structured cabling, security camera, access control, and networking projects across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin — from initial site walk to final terminations.

When you hire Magnuson, you're hiring the owner. That's the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you licensed and insured in Minnesota?

Yes. Magnuson Low Voltage Wiring is fully licensed and insured. Bob Magnuson holds a Minnesota Power Limited Technician (PLT) license and the company holds a Minnesota Technology Systems Contractor (TSC) license. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance, and certificates of insurance are available on request for GCs and property managers.

Do you pull permits and handle inspections?

Yes. When a project requires a permit or low voltage inspection, we pull it, schedule the inspection, and meet the inspector on-site. Everything we install is done to the National Electrical Code (NEC), TIA/EIA structured cabling standards, and applicable Minnesota state and local requirements.

What areas do you serve?

We serve commercial and residential customers throughout Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin — including the Twin Cities metro, East Central Minnesota, the I-35 corridor, the St. Croix Valley, and Western Wisconsin. See our service areas page for details, or just call and ask.

How does the free estimate process work?

Reach out through the Free Estimate form or call us. We'll set up a no-obligation on-site walk-through, listen to what you're trying to accomplish, and put a clear written scope and price in front of you. There is no fee and no pressure — if the project isn't a fit, we'll tell you that too.

What should I expect on the day of install?

We show up when we say we will, in a marked vehicle, and walk the site with you before we start. We protect finished surfaces, run cable along clean pathways, label every drop, terminate to spec, and test every run. Before we leave, we walk you through the system, hand off documentation, and clean up.

Do you only work on commercial jobs?

No. We specialize in commercial low voltage — structured cabling, fiber, access control, IP cameras, and burglar alarms for warehouses, manufacturing, healthcare, multi-tenant, offices, schools, retail, and government — but we also handle residential security and low voltage work across our service area.

Do you service systems you didn't install?

Yes. We regularly evaluate, repair, expand, and modernize cameras, access control, alarm panels, and cabling installed by other contractors. If you inherited a system you don't understand, we can assess it and lay out your options.
